The Garrick Bar, a longstanding institution in Belfast, is one of the city’s oldest and most beloved pubs, with a history dating back to 1870. Located in the heart of the city on Chichester Street, it has maintained much of its traditional charm while adapting to contemporary tastes. The Garrick is celebrated for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and its dedication to offering a genuine Irish pub experience.
Known for its impressive selection of craft beers, ciders, and an extensive range of Irish whiskeys, The Garrick is a popular spot among both locals and tourists. It prides itself on serving hearty pub food, including traditional Irish dishes like stew and fish and chips, all made with locally sourced ingredients. The pub is also famous for its live music sessions, where visitors can enjoy performances by talented local musicians, creating an authentic Irish cultural experience.
The Garrick is split into two areas: the front bar, which retains its original Victorian décor with wooden furnishings and stained-glass windows, and the back bar, offering a more modern, relaxed vibe. This versatility makes it a favorite for various occasions, from a quiet pint to a lively night out.
With its rich history, great selection of drinks, and strong connection to Belfast’s social and cultural fabric, The Garrick Bar remains a must-visit destination for those seeking a true taste of Belfast’s pub culture.

Really is a great bar for all things- if just stopping in after a long shop for quick drink/ food or a saturday night out or pint with colleagues after work. Excellent drinks selection and very decent customer types and staff are good also.

So why not come along and join in on Arthur Guinness day, and celebrate the 250th birthday of Guinness??
great bar always head there after work, Staff extreemly friendly one of the only places i know i can get a good Krombacher.
Great to find an original unspoilt victorian pub in city centre with very friendly staff and great food too! Loved the trad music.
Good bar, good selection of beers. Generally good clientelle. back room disco is too busy for me. bar snacks are good and the upstairs room is a good venue for work outings. (didn't part-take in the pickled egg challange)
Absolutely LOVE Sunday nights at The Garrick - wouldn't go anywhere else. 2 for 1 cocktails and great DJ. Always good for a pre Thompsons boogie!!
friday nights rock, musics pumping, atmosphere is wicked and the staff are great!
fantastic little venue. what a real bar should feel like.
Rude manager, place was nearly empty and had a funny smell to it.
Will not be returning thanks to that cheeky little man.
Great bar great food, the staff are on the ball and the manager knows what he is doing. I am unsure about that Aussie weirdo though, I think he is way too efficient possibly hung around too many bars!
Garrick Pub, more like Garrick resturant.
This is more than just pub grub. This is some of the finest wholesome local dishes to get tucked into with a bunch of hungry friends.
The big Swiss cheese burger served with crunchy home made chips and tomato ketchup is a a true king amongst burgers. Finely prepared with prime irish beef.
Smoked Haddock with leak mash pie, served with thick slices of wheaten bread, combines all the flavours reminiscent of a dish at a much more expensive seaside establishment in Carlingford.
The staff are efficient, polite and friendly. Good atmosphere.
8.5/10.
Will be back soon!
Friday nites at the Garrick are great. Chris and Kenny play wicked tunes that will have you up dancing.
Nothing bad to say about this great wee bar...the food is tasty and you get proper size portions, a relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff. Good job.
Excellent bar. Great food, fine selection of foreign beers, quality free entertainment on a friday and saturday night, friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more from a bar.
prpoer irish trad pub.nice friendly staff and a great pint.just needs a few better looking females behind the bar haha.just kidding all round to me the best pub in belfast city center!!!!
Decent Guinness, almost human staff and different management!
A great place to spend your day / evening. Board games and newspapers provided. Cosy atmosphere and friendly bar staff.
Good to see an unspoilt traditional belfast bar.
Real pub for real people!! Friendly, down to earth staff. Best food i've had in a long time...portions were HUGE!!
Will definately be going back.
Really nice pub. Even better since it's "makeover" in 2006. Now has the look of a "Trad Irish" place, but not overdone. Also good that its a City Centre Bar not overrun by tourists (yet?).
Highly recommended. Food is top quality as well.
Popular with Business Types. Busy at lunchtime, but a haven of peace most afternoons.
A place to hide with a pint and the free newspapers the Bar provides for customers.
The pub is a great place for a nite out. great atmosphere, friendly staff, nice beer and not too expensive.Plus some good music.Def the place to go in Belfast
A great wee bar, good atmosphere and good traditional music on a saturday night. The crowd are unpretentious unlike those you can get in too many bars in Belfast (The Cloth Ear, Apartment etc.) Friendly staff and more importantly damn fine measures...:)
Will definitely be back.
Nice bar, great atmosphere, music and staff, though it is no Cloth Ear! Winner of Belfasts prestigous best bar award.....
